Pretty good read.

Not the Author's best work but a decent read that plays with an interesting idea.
The reviewer that said that the politics ruined the book is reacting to I have no idea what. The whole point of the book which seems very much to be thrusting at something like 'truth is what matters most'. Also, that any political agenda can be taken to an extreme or be used to control and manipulate people for the sake of power etc.

The story itself is really allegorical. It reminds me particularly of The Constant Rabbit by Jasper Fforde, although I would say that Fforde's execution creates a more poignant read ultimately.

That said, Max Barry's 'Providence' is an excellent read and those that enjoyed Discordia will likely enjoy that as well (although they are very different; Providence is not tongue in cheek the way Discordia is).

excellent light hearted read.

Diego the hero becomes very endearing as the story wends its way through many twists & turns. funny, different, just what I needed in Jan 2022.

Hilarious!

I loved this funny smart story. Excellent voice acting too- the characters were really clearly differentiated. Lots of fun! Highly entertaining.

Interesting

Although it was an interesting listen, it was also rather weird. Some aspects of the story are social commentary and that might not appeal to everyone. There is no possible ‘science’ behind the ideas but it is entertaining in a strange way.

Discordia

An unusual, fast-paced, alien invasion. I nearly gave up after the first few chapters with the annoyingly narrated initial characters, but thankfully they disappeared never to return so, yahy, I was able to stay listening. At one point I felt like it was election time with all these weird political parties coming forward trying to be voted in. Yet again, a very terrible Australian accent by the narrator, but others were passable. A reasonable sci-fi book to listen to. It was written well enough that I could see it in my mind’s eye as it was being narrated and could see it being a B-rated movie. Take the book with a grain of salt and for what it is; entertaining and not a great piece of literary work.

Entertaining satire on current ideologies

Diego, a part time thief and our hapless protagonist, gets involved with agents from other worlds trying to take over our world. If you are sick of current political ideologies, you might be entertained as Diego encounters people with these ideologies on his quest to save the Earth. Narrator is great at all the voices.

Great performance and a very entertaining yarn.

This was both silly (in a very entertaining way) and quite profound. The narrator's performance of the text was probably the best I have heard on an audiobook.
