Hard to get into but grew rich and deep

At first this seemed miserable and depressing, so I left it for a while. When I started it again, I couldn't stop. People, families, life are painted with such care and perception. Different characters come into focus throughout the novel, which keeps the interest and develops and rounds out our understanding.

Unpleasant and uninteresting

If you want to listen to a book that sounds like all the most judgemental things your mother has ever said to you, this would be the perfect. A great gift for someone you hate.
