Sie lag ganz verborgen im grünen Tannengrund, und nur selten kam eines Menschen Fuß in ihre Nähe. Aber der Glasschleifer, der in ihr lebte, war nicht allein. Die Tiere des Waldes waren um ihn, und die ewigen Sterne standen über ihm, und wenn nachts der Feuerschein der Glashütte durch die dunklen Tannenzweige lohte, so sah man die Elfen tanzen in weißen Schleiern und mit Kronen von Edelstein im Haar.
