About this listen
In this book, you will learn everything from understanding depression to strategies of overcoming them and learning how to take responsibility for your well being. You will learn how to cope with other people's emotions and enjoy more rewarding relationships and lower conflict-causing situations. This book gives hope and encouragement to keep up the fight. Many people who experience depression will fully recover. Many others will find some level of relief through listening to it. There is no quick fix for depression, but there is a great hope for healing.
This book gives you a collection of tools and skills to help you in beating a range of mental problems. We try to provide you with just enough information to assist you in doing the exercises that are contained in the chapters herein. You can use this book on your own to assist you in becoming your own CBT therapist. You can as well use it alongside a CBT treatment course with a qualified professional. Unfortunately, the book cannot cover all types of psychological difficulties exhaustively - it would otherwise be encyclopedic in length! We have endeavored to touch on the most common anxiety and depression disorders that CBT has been proven effective at resolving. Use this self-help guide as a starting point to better understand and appreciate your problems and how to overcome them. Do not hesitate to get some additional professional input in situations that you will feel that you need some.
Recovery is a process, not a one-off event. You will be far better off bearing in mind your efforts to overcome your difficulties as a lifestyle shift instead of a finite attempt. We humans all must make a continuous concerted effort to be emotionally fit. So, while it is a positive thing to have clear goals and to fixing a timeframe for achieving them, be ready to be elastic flexible.
This helps to make a difference between short, medium, and long term. But the key message here is that you are an ever-changing, vibrant, complex creature. Constantly, there will be more fun and thrilling things to work on. Bear in mind that the way you feel influences the way you think. If today you are feeling depressed, anxious, or angry, for example, it is highly likely that you will be thinking negative, threatening, or anger-provoking thoughts. Your negative feelings can temporarily taint your view of life. Tomorrow you may feel differently and may see the world in a much more favorable light.
