Jørn Jensen, født 1946, børnebogsforfatter, uddannet guldsmed og lærer. Som ny lærer for de små klasser fandt han, at der var mangel på egnet læsemateriale til begynderlæsning, og det fik ham til selv at gå i gang med at skrive. Inspirationen henter han i sin egen barndom i 1950'erne, men også fra oplevelser med hans tre drenge danner grundlag for historierne.
Jørn Jensen har fortolket og omskrevet en række af H.C. Andersens mest kendte eventyr til letlæseligt sprog. Genfortællinger af store forfatteres værker vækker altid debat: Må de overhovedet omskrives? Går den oprindelige ånd tabt? På den anden side kan en omskrivning af det ellers noget kringlede, gammeldags sprog til et mere læsevenligt dansk netop være anledningen til, at børn og unge kommer i gang med at læse de klassiske fortællinger.
