Hovedtemaet i Martha Christensens forfatterskab er efter min mening ikke den sociale indignation, (som hun ganske vist også har), men det sociale samspil mellem mennesker, som hun har udforsket i bog efter bog. Faktisk så godt, at man kunne bruge hende som lærebog ved et gruppedynamisk kursus!

I den store Danske Encyklopædi står der om Martha Christensen, at hun skrev "med faglig baggrund i socialsektoren". I hendes eget sprog betyder det, at hun var uddannet fritidspædagog og havde arbejdet som sådan i 35 år. Samme leksikon, der udmåler litterær betydning i centimeter, har tildelt Martha Christensen 27 linier. Det er én mere end Ib Henrik Cavling. Beskeden som hun var, ville Martha Christensen vide at sætte pris på den ene linie.
