About this listen
The second book in the legendary Poldark series. Demelza Carne, the impoverished miner's daughter Ross Poldark rescued from a fairground rabble, is now his wife. But the events of these turbulent years test their marriage and their love.
Demelza's efforts to adapt to the ways of the gentry - and her husband - bring her confusion and heartache despite her joy in the birth of their first child. Ross begins a bitter struggle for the rights of the mining communities - and sows the seed of an enduring enmity with powerful George Warleggan.

Loved Demelza
The book delivered a visual insight of the times it set. Townships, gentry, miners , the law and attitudes of individuals and families makes it a good read.

Cornwall saga full of struggles & emotion.
Highly recommended 2nd book in the Poldark series.
You will enjoy the read whether or not you saw the tv series.
A book of highs and terrible lows: of love and hatred, of starvation and plenty. Of class divide and of humanity. A raw book of life as it was in the late 1700s.

Great series of books
Enjoyed book number two Demelza, enjoyed the social commentary of the time. Winston Graham is a great writer of this historical period and Copper mining in Cornwall. Great characterisation.
