About this listen
The best-selling author of Daemon returns with a near-future technological thriller, in which a charismatic billionaire recruits a team of adventurers to launch the first deep space mining operation - a mission that could alter the trajectory of human civilization.
When itinerant cave diver James Tighe receives an invitation to billionaire Nathan Joyce's private island, he thinks it must be a mistake. But Tighe's unique skill set makes him a prime candidate for Joyce's high-risk venture to mine a near-Earth asteroid - with the goal of kick-starting an entire off-world economy. The potential rewards and personal risks are staggering, but the competition is fierce, and the stakes couldn't be higher.
Isolated and pushed beyond their breaking points, Tighe and his fellow 21st-century adventurers - ex-soldiers, former astronauts, BASE jumpers, and mountain climbers - must rely on each other to survive not only the dangers of a multi-year expedition but the harsh realities of business in space. They're determined to transform humanity from an Earth-bound species to a space-faring one - or die trying.

Love a science based thriller!
Very good plausible story! As hoped all technologies based on real physics and inventions. Couldn't stop listening.

Fantastic
Best read since “the Martian” by Andy weir ... well paced and plausible ... really enjoyed the inventiveness of seemingly insurmountable problems. Going to miss the team now I’ve finished the book. I really felt part of it. Well done!!!

Great performance, listen to it in big chunks
The entire performance of this book is great, we read and gets you in to the story entirely that you need to listen in big chunks to get engrossed. BINGE THIS BOOK.
it's a great story about things that are so close to happening in real life. Just like Daniel's other books things are changing so quickly.

Asteroids first coz who wants S*** Potatoes on Mars
Big fan of Dan S books as eyes fail but ears still work the search for a good listen is fraught with dangers. Having just finished this (6:00am this morning) great science based sci fi exciting and grippy bits and occasional pithy writing but overall a good listen. I trust he kept up his attention to the science behind his writing as this book is quite relevant and thought provoking on where the Global Billionaires put their Space Playmoney and lobby governments to spend mankind’s future.

Another Suarez classic!
I listened to this book pretty much straight through on 24 hour solo road trip, and the time passed so quickly, it was amazing.
The story was realistic enough to be totally believable, and totally captivating through it's entire length.
Great performance, thoroughly enjoyed!

Interesting but trite, shallow and predictablr
Somewhat entertaining but if I had my time over again, I wouldn’t listen to it. It was quite shallow and predictable. It was however well-narrated.

Pulp Fiction (not the good one)
I really enjoyed Daemon and Freedom TM and was looking forward to this book by Daniel Suarez but it was a massive disappointment. It’s tiring listening to endless superlatives about characters and their egos. I’d prefer a real story with characters who the author doesn’t feel the need to endlessly describe as rich, handsome, and so on but with no real depth.
Tell another fascinating tale like the first two I mentioned and I’ll be back in a heartbeat but for now, I’ll be avoiding this author.
