About this listen

Riveting new series offers legal suspense with a romantic twist.

In the biggest case of her career, attorney Kate Sullivan is tapped as lead counsel to take on Mason Pharmaceutical because of a corporate cover-up related to its newest drug. After a whistleblower dies, Kate knows the stakes are much higher than her other lawsuits.

Former Army Ranger turned private investigator Landon James is still haunted by mistakes made while serving overseas. Trying to forget the past, he is hired by Kate to look into the whistleblower's allegation and soon suspects that the company may be engaging in a dangerous game for profit. He also soon finds himself falling for this passionate and earnest young lawyer.

Determined not to make the same mistakes, he's intent on keeping Kate safe, but as the case deepens, it appears someone is willing to risk everything - even murder - to keep the case from going to trial.

Deadly Proof

Another example of being prepared to listen to an author that you haven't listened to before.

A great book I could imagine reading in book form as well.

Now onto the next book!!

great story idea but really hard to listen too

I had high hopes for this book when i read the description but quickly realised it wasn’t going to live up to them when i got a little way through.
During conversations between characters there’s these really long pauses that really start to piss you off the longer you listen.
The female character is so naive that my natural reaction was oh great this again, another woman who can’t use her intelligence to defend herself in the short term to achieve the overall goal, but kept listening in hopes this was just the characters build up until she realised that nothings impossible and the world isn’t a safe little bubble everyone creates in their mind.
But after the threat became real, she still was made completely naive and honestly just dumb.
If a 38 year old woman working in the corporate world that plays with the big dogs can’t imagine big powerful companies dealing with drugs wouldn’t do whatever it takes to keep their rich powerful life styles then i’ve completely lost hope in ever finding another person with a brain.
How is it possible for a lawyer as established as her to believe that people knowingly produced a drug that caused brain tumours and ultimately killed thousands of people, but can’t imagine them killing 1 person to stop the fact that they did it knowingly coming to light? Or stop her from digging into the rest of their business to uncover all of the other drugs stuff.
She’s about to strip all of those high up men of all of their money and power, that level of stupidity wouldn’t have allowed her to get to the level she did in her career. It makes zero sense. And got extremely boring to keep listening to, which is sad because i really liked the story line and was excited to hear it.
