About this listen
An Imperial Guard Audiobook
The Death Korps of Krieg arrive at a mining world overrun by necrons, determined to win this brutal war at any cost.
LISTEN TO IT BECAUSE
The Death Korps are unlike any other Astra Militarum unit – batch-bred, born to fight, and completely indoctrinated to their cause. See how effective that can be in this storming story.
THE STORY
When the necrons rise, a mining planet descends into a cauldron of war and the remorseless foes decimate the human defenders. Salvation comes in an unlikely form - the Death Korps of Krieg, a force as unfeeling as the necrons themselves. When the two powers go to war, casualties are high and the magnitude of the destruction is unimaginable.

Great audiobook about the Death Korps of Krieg vs Necrons
I liked to learn more about the DKK and Necrons. Great audio performance. Pretty expected outcome on the story for a krieg / astra mitarum story sadly in the grimdark future.

Possibly the best portrayal of the Krieg
This book is close to perfect, even if you aren't a guard fan. The story is really well written, going through the motions of a long lasting seige. It has a very real human element with it's main characters, and portays the Krieg how they should be; as a semi robotic death cult that lives only to purge in the name of the emperor! No names, no glory, just a gas mask and a rifle.

Who is truly the machine?
I read this book back in 2012, and was my first Black Library book I had ever read. I had played warhammer for almost 15 years before and this book was my first true experience into the reality of the world that the game took place in.
This book is a masterpiece in showing the indoctrination of the empire of man and what little of humanity is left in the universe. The juxtaposition of the necrons against the death korp is just so well written. zwhere the necrons will "phase out" to save their remaining unit, the kreig just send the last man to their death with no real hope of achieving anything.
The characters in this book as so well written and have such growth and development. Ultimately, being a warhammer novel we know their fates. I admire their efforts to restore faith in humanity to murder machine that is death korp.
Steven Llyons wrote a magnificent book and this will forever hold a place in my heart. His name should be up their with Dan Abbnett. The voice acting by Timothy Watson is done extremely well and was how I imagine the characters when I first read the book.
This should be on every Warhammer fans must read read/listen list.
