Publisher's Summary

A Genestealer Cults Novel

The people of forge world Morod have found a new hope against despair and toil. The long-awaited angels are close, and the cult must prepare for their coming.

Listen to it because: acclaimed science-fiction author Adrian Tchaikovsky's first full-length work for Black Library takes the form of Day of Ascension, in which the populace of the forge world of Morod grow weary of the backbreaking work and injustice of their lives. But how far will they go to achieve change?

The story: on the forge world of Morod, the machines never stop and the work never ends. The population toils in the mines and factoria to protect humanity from the monsters in the void, while the Adeptus Mechanicus enjoy lives of palatial comfort.

Genetor Gammat Triskellian seeks to end this stagnant corruption. When he learns of a twisted congregation operating within the shadows, one that believes that the tech-priests are keeping people from their true salvation - a long-prophesied union with angels - he sees in them an opportunity to bring down Morod's masters and reclaim the world in the name of progress.

But sometimes, the only hope for real change lies in the coming of monsters.

Everything I wanted from a Genestealer novel

Succeeding where the other attempts to write a Genestealer Cult novel have fallen short, with an excellent performance despite difficult moments of writing switching between a characters thoughts and words using careful intonation to carry it across. An excellent book for fans of Genestealer Cults and the Adeptus Mechanicus alike.

A great listen for all 40K Fans

It's so nice to see a story from the perspective of a Genestealer Cult for a change, in so many other books and stories they're just villains with very little detail, here though they are both Humanized and fleshed out, you can understand their plight so well, and can even root for them even though they might be doomed tragic heroes.

At the same time though, the story does an equally good job of making the main Villains of this book, the Mechanicus, equally empathetic, it really feels like if this was a Mechanicus book rather then a Genestealer one it could work just as well.

Overall i consider this a must read for all 40K fans, especially the ones who enjoy books from a Xenos perspective for a change rather then another Space Marine or Guard book.

Decent but needs more work.

A bit short and straight forward despite containing an engaging narrative. The voice work was decent, with a few issues - e.g. mistimed tone/voice changes.

Really awesome world. Love the contrast between the characters. Wastes no time. Very well executed.

An excellent Genestealer experience

Both tense and horrific in equal measure, a great experience highly recommended for those wanting to take a break from space marines and get a reminder of how horrific living in the imperium is that being eaten by tyranids is looking like an attractive option.

A gripping tale in service of the many armed emperor

I couldn’t put it down. I’ve read some of this authors other novels and loved them, but upon hearing they had written a warhammer novel on my favourite faction, I knew I had to read it.

A very well down warhammer novel. All hail the many armed emperor.

A delightful coming-of-age story set in the rosy future of humanity

Really enjoyed the characterisation and how the setting and feel of the 41st millennium was conveyed at a micro level. The female voicing left room for improvement as it sounded like a parody compared to the rest of the narration. A solid listen otherwise.

refreshing perspective from lesser written faction

story follows a genestealer uprising on a forge world, since there are hardly any stories written from the genestealers perspectives, it feels new and refreshing.

A good listen

Awesome story about a faction that isn’t covered much. Great narration and great writing. Definitely recommend
