Publisher's Summary
All's fair in love and work. The first stand-alone romance by New York Times best-selling author Christina Lauren (Beautiful Bastard) is a sexy, compulsively listenable romantic comedy that dives headlong into the thrill and doubt of modern love.
Despite the odds against them from an embarrassing meet-awkward at a mutual friend's Halloween party, Carter and Evie immediately hit it off. Even the realization that they're both high-powered agents at competing firms in Hollywood isn't enough to squash the fire.
But when their two agencies merge - causing the pair to vie for the same position - all bets are off. What could have been a beautiful blossoming romance turns into an all-out war of sabotage. Carter and Evie are both 30-something professionals - so why can't they act like it?
Can Carter stop trying to please everyone and see how their mutual boss is really playing the game? Can Evie put aside her competitive nature long enough to figure out what she really wants in life? Can their actor clients just be something close to human? Whether these two Hollywood love/hatebirds get the storybook Hollywood ending or just a dramedy of epic proportions, you will get to enjoy Christina Lauren's heartfelt, raucous, and hilarious romance style at its finest.

The story was fine, but both voices were not great
The woman’s voice in particular is awful, she sounds so much older than the character should be. The story was fine, I bought this to listen while on a long drive so if I needed to concentrate on directions and missed some of the story, it wasn’t going to be the end of the world. And it’s good for that!

Second hand anxiety was sublime!
This was not only such a well written workplace rivals trope, but the voice performances really added to the second hand anxiety I felt for both the characters, in a situation neither of them wanted to be in! The drama, and the tension were both sublime, and the theme of the disparity between how women and men are treated in a showbiz environment was handled spectacularly.
Honestly, Christina Lauren can really do no wrong in my eyes!

DNF - Half way stopped
Just couldn't grab me with this one. I've LOVED Christina Lauren books and series in the past so was very excited to have this one released. I got about half way through and realised there wasn't any connection with the story or the characters and myself. Just a bit meh. Have exchanged. Will hope for more in the future
