Wie vor langer Zeit Hans Lebert in seinem Roman "Die Wolfshaut" (1960), wie Gert Loschütz wieder ganz anders in "Die Bedrohung" (2006), auch wie Andrea Maria Schenkel zuletzt in "Tannöd" (2006), setzt "Das finstere Tal" auf die Bannkraft archaischer, eingewachsener Strukturen. Wie dort entfacht, wer daran rüttelt, schließlich einen gewaltigen Steinschlag.
