About this listen
Editorial reviews
The third audiobook in the Unicorn Chronicles is easier to understand if one is familiar with the background of the earlier tales. Two plots are woven together. Cara Diana Hunter is on a quest for a critical story, and her father is on a journey in search of his wife. Transitions between the two tales are signaled by musical interludes that are helpful in keeping the listener grounded. The cast is strong, with a wide range of voices. At times Cara and her little companion, the Squijim, are jarringly loud and shrill - as if to emphasize the tension of the plot. For the most part, however, the performers allow the story to create the mood and provide dimension to their characters.
