Stockholm syndrome?
Nope, sorry Ruby, just cannot drift to the dark side. Azar is an all round dick and this book just didn't go toward redeeming him ( for me anyway)
he's been built up to be such a villain and done so many things to hurt and spite our Draconi heroes and heroines that I can't get past it.
Ruby has written this plotline to try and show us that his race has been raised to be superior and emotionally in control. but that type of race is never the hero in romance books. sure we get antiheroes in stories but Azar, in my eyes cannot be redeemed.
As for Melina, I get the immediate feeling of Stockholm syndrome. Sure she may not be a doormat but as far as smart thinking is concerned, to me, she isn't that either.
Azars' mistakes go on and on even when he does get human feelings and Melina just sinks into his manipulation and lies so readily. And as soon as he gives her any human emotion and sexy times, she folds so I don't have a lot of 'good' feelings about the h. although I did feel a tad sorry for her when revelations slap her in the face.
I know this happens with the Dragons too but the H's in those books have not created or done as much damage as Azar. which again, does not, in my opinion, redeem him.
Melina just rolls over and the words husband and wife get bandied around.
then with all the human emotions Azar is adjusting to, he still uses it repeatedly to manipulate the h. I'm not so much into babies as some other readers/listeners
the irony of this book is that Azar is getting exactly what he has been doing to Draconi all the time. so congrats to Ruby for her clever craft and underlying tone.
the idea for addressing the rift problem was so simple it was brilliant.

Well redeemed
I was wondering if Azar could be redeemed. This was well thought out and didn’t take away from his atrocities, but followed his growth in a new world. A surprisingly good way to end the series.

loved this story
This was the last book in what I thought was a great series. However, I felt the performance of the female voice artist let the story down. She never paused between sentences and I felt exhausted listening when it was her turn given the fast pace she set with her story telling. very disappointing.
