Publisher's Summary

Don't date your bodyguard.

It was the one rule he had to break.

Maximoff Hale is a force of nature. A ship unwilling to be steered. Headstrong, resilient, and wholly responsible - the 22-year-old alpha billionaire can handle his unconventional life. By noon, lunch can turn into a mob of screaming fans. By two, his face is all over the Internet. Born into one of the most famous families in the country, his celebrity status began at birth. He is certified American royalty.

When he's assigned a new 24/7 bodyguard, he comes face-to-face with the worst case scenario: being attached to the tattooed, MMA-trained Yale graduate who's known for "going rogue" in the security team - and who fills 1/3 of Maximoff's sexual fantasies.

Twenty-seven-year-old Farrow Keene has one job: protect Maximoff Hale. Flirting, dating, and hot sex falls far, far out of the boundary of his bodyguard duties and into "termination" territory. But when feelings surface, protecting the sexy-as-sin, stubborn celebrity becomes increasingly complicated. Together, boundaries blur, and being exposed could mean catastrophic consequences for both.

Damaged Like Us can be listened to and enjoyed without listening to any of Krista and Becca's other novels.

A brilliant take on life in the spotlight!

Maximoff Hale is the eldest son of the most famous celebrity parents on the planet; his life is endlessly fascinating to the paparazzi, fans, and trolls on social media, and it takes its toll. He’s always secretly admired his mother’s personal bodyguard, Farrow Keene, and it seems the feeling is mutual, so when Farrow is reassigned to Maximoff’s security detail, they’ll have to be careful. This was a brilliant portrayal of living life in the dynastic spotlight and, despite the title, it avoided the usual clichés about the dysfunction of fame and fortune - responsibility and philanthropy weigh heavily on Maximoff, he’s a protective young lion caring for his younger siblings and cousins and loathe to disappoint his parents. There were lots of snarky, fun exchanges between Maximoff and Farrow, who have grown up around each other and have developed a gentle rivalry. I never thought I’d say it, but it made my sympathetic towards the Kardashians, you can see the similarities. JF Harding (as Maximoff) and Alexander Cendese (as Farrow) face stunningly good narrative performances, can’t wait to explore the rest of the audio series!

Wonderful voice acting

Lovely leads in this sweet, sexy and sometimes hard to read romance. Hard because of the endless parade of human waste that seems to populate this storyline. If the authors are to be believed, the world is overburdened with people with the worst kind of impulses who relish the suffering of others. I’d like to think it’s a little better than that.

Painstakingly frustrating

This would have to be one of the worst books I’ve ever listen to. The storyline takes for ever to unfold and when it does it is so lacklustre and boring. The author spent way too much time building the characters instead of actually letting the characters unfold in what could’ve been a very very very good story. The details are famous guy his bodyguard and way too much time spent on developing all the characters around them and not enough about The two main characters. Very very disappointed.
