About this listen

A talent for magic runs like fire through the blood of Dalamar Argent. Yet he is only a servant in the house of an elvish lord, not worthy of the High Art of Sorcery and denied all but the most grudging teaching.

As war simmers on the borders of Silvanesti, Dalamar will find a way to learn his art. His quest will take him along dark paths toward an awesome destiny.

Worth a read

This book fleshes out the backstory of Dalamar the Dark and spans a period from the events in the Chronicles up to just before the Legends Trilogy. The story on the whole I found quite good and Dalamar is certainly an interesting protagonist. My only issue being that the story seems to skip forward a bit jarringly no doubt so the events could line up with the legends trilogy toward the end. Despite this, some solid Dragonlance fantasy is to be had and this book is worth a read.
The narration was also top notch with names or character, gods and places being pronounced correctly (looking at you Legends trilogy).
