THE SUNDAY TIMES AND NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER

From the author of THE SEVEN HUSBANDS OF EVELYN HUGO and the bestselling MALIBU RISING

Everybody knows Daisy Jones and the Six.

Their sound defined an era. Their albums were on every turntable. They sold out arenas from coast to coast.

Then, on 12 July 1979, Daisy Jones walked barefoot onto the stage at Chicago Stadium. And it all came crashing down.

Everyone was there.

Everyone remembers it differently.

Nobody knew why they split. Until now . . .

Absolutely awesome

Not sure how to convey my thoughts on this other to say that it is a must. The narrators are so good that I forgot this was fiction and not some amazing documentary I was listening to. Highly recommend to anyone who is even a little passionate about music. I can feel a major slump to follow but so worth it ❤❤❤

Amazing Audible version

Daisy Jones and The Six - first up I have to say do yourself a favour - listen to the Audible version, it is absolutely AMAZING to listen to this story. With 15 narrators telling the story (yep - I went back to Amazon to look it up and counted once I started listening, as there were so many different voices!), it was mesmerising to listen to - and the narrators all do such a fantastic job with their characters.

The way the author wrote the story made it all the more fascinating to listen to, it really felt like I was listening to a documentary rather than a fictional story. I really enjoyed the way the story was told from the beginning. Alternating between the background story of The Six and their rise to fame, and the background of Daisy Jones, until they meet and then their story merges into the one. The story touches on many things you would expect from a famous rock band from the 70's, with the members trying to deal with their fame, addictions, love, loss, touring, being in each other's faces constantly - I was halfway through the Audible version when I also ordered myself a paperback copy, I just knew it was going to be amazing all the way through to the end, and I needed it for my bookshelf.

Felt so real

I’ll admit I nearly gave up when I first started listening to it. Jumping from one voice to the next was distracting at first. But I’m so glad I persevered. Such a great story. I wanted to be there. I wanted to be able to really listen to these songs. I caught myself a few times about to check a fact about someone on the internet then remembered it was fiction. Awesome. And SO well read!!!

Sounds like a really good documentary

Sounds so authentic that at times you forget you're listening to fiction. Great that they have different voice actors playing each character. They do a great job. Listened to the whole thing in less than a week.

Great storytelling kinda boring story

The performance as a whole is incredible and feels so real. The only let down was it seemed to miss or skip altogether the conflict. For a rock and roll premise it is a bit tame, more romance and drama, less sex drugs and rock and roll. With so many possibilities it just felt a bit plain. Waited for an explosion that never came.

Lived the same time

I was the same age as this group of musicians but not a part of their lifestyle. We all knew the drug issues and freedom of lifestyle of those who wished to choose it.
Thoroughly enjoyed this book and the narrative taken on by different characters to give a great insight into the life of a rock and roll band in the ‘70s. Thanks

Took a while to get going

I'm glad I perservered. The last few chapters are worth the wait. Not a sex drugs and rock n roll story I'd typically enjoy but I did find myself finally connecting with the characters in the end.
