Publisher's Summary
Even as a young girl, Jill was a favorite of the magical, mysterious Wildfolk, who appeared to her from their invisible realm. Little did she know her extraordinary friends represented but a glimpse of a forgotten past and a fateful future. Four hundred years - and many lifetimes ago - one selfish young lord caused the death of two innocent lovers. Then and there he vowed never to rest until he'd righted that wrong - and laid the foundation for the lives of Jill and all those whom she would hold dear: her father, the mercenary soldier Cullyn; the exiled berserker Rhodry Maelwaedd; and the ancient and powerful herbman Nevyn, all bound in a struggle against darkness...and a quest to fulfill the destinies determined centuries ago.
Here in this newly revised edition is the incredible novel that began one of the best-loved fantasy series in recent years - a tale of bold adventure and timeless love, perilous battle, and pure magic. For long-standing fans of Deverry and those who have yet to experience this exciting series, Daggerspell is a rare and special treat.

Wonderful
The Deverry series is one of the most intricate examples of the genre ever written. I have read these books back to back over many years and it’s wonderful to have them come alive now in audiobook.
Not sure why another reviewer was unhappy with the narration. I think she did a great job, and thought that the care taken in
using the authors pronunciation guide was a superb touch.

Fantasy - at its very best!
Finally justice done. For those fantasy readers who are bored with the “story factory” fantasy books and series, this is the story for you. I would imagine that modern fantasy fiction authors like Sanderson and Martin would agree that Katharine Kerr would be part of the pioneer authors in this genre. Ruth Urquhart’s delivery of this classic novel is breathtakingly accurate.
I highly recommend this book and the continuation of the series to anyone even remotely interested in Fantasy Fiction.

engaging
Daggerspell by Katherine Kerr. Ross reminded me of old fantasy and how it was written, focusing on fantasy aspects instead of trying to fill it with new aspects. This was a brilliant story and cannot wait for the next book

Regrets
I know the story is good because I’ve read the book, but the narrative is monotonous and wooden. I can’t listen to anymore! I should have tried a sample first.

poor reading
Bad narrator unfortunately, ruins a great series. Voices used by the reader were very off-putting.
