Publisher's Summary

The Sunday Times bestseller and winner of the Irish Independent crime fiction book of the year!

Guilty?

A year ago, Leo Stone was convicted of murdering two women and sentenced to life in prison. Now he’s been freed on a technicality, and he’s protesting his innocence.

Not guilty?

DS Maeve Kerrigan and DI Josh Derwent are determined to put Stone back behind bars where he belongs, but the more Maeve digs, the less convinced she is that he did it.

The wrong decision could be deadly…

Then another woman disappears in similar circumstances. Is there a copycat killer, or have they been wrong about Stone from the start?

One of my faves in the series

I really enjoyed this book in the series. Great story as well as action and a twist for Maeve.

Great listen - slightly predictable plot twists

I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this one. I couldn’t understand why they used a narrator with a west country accent when the characters were based in London & Kent. I felt that was the only thing that didn’t give an authentic enough feel to the whole story. Otherwise, enjoyed and worth a download!

More please

Love the characters of Maeve and Josh their interaction, support and Josh’s protectiveness of Maeve. Josh’s walls are coming down slowly as the series goes on. Looking forward to their next adventure together.
What I did not enjoy in this novel was them working with others more than being together At times as I have always really enjoyed their banter and sometimes comically lines from Josh. Maeve brings out the best in him.

Twists and Turns

Another great story in this series. Maeve is a fantastic character, believable and honest. I have enjoyed the entire series so far. A suspenseful ending kept me riveted to the storyline.

Hardly gripping ... a little disappointing

Shame! Was looking forward to this book but can honestly say after 12+ hrs of listening, I cannot recall much detail. Was predictable, boring and completely forgettable. Narration was fine, it was the content that let it down
