About this listen
Bloomsbury presents Crown of Midnight by Sarah J. Maas, read by Elizabeth Evans.
‘One of the best fantasy book series of the past decade’ TIME
Never trust an assassin.
Celaena’s story continues in this second book in the #1 bestselling Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas.
Celaena Sardothien won a brutal contest to become the King’s Champion. But she is far from loyal to the crown. Though she goes to great lengths to hide her secret, her deadly charade becomes more difficult when she realises she is not the only one seeking justice. Her search for answers ensnares those closest to her, and no one is safe from suspicion — not the Crown Prince Dorian; not Chaol, the Captain of the Guard; not even her best friend, Nehemia, a princess with a rebel heart.
Then, one terrible night, the secrets they have all been keeping lead to an unspeakable tragedy. As Celaena’s world shatters, she will be forced to decide once and for all where her true loyalties lie ... and what she is willing to fight for.
The second book in the #1 New York Times bestselling Throne of Glass series returns readers to a land destroyed by liars, where one woman’s truth is the only thing that can save them all.

2nd time listening to this series
I LOVE this whole series.
Story gets better & better with each book. Listening to it again and still enjoying the action, adventure, romance & magic just as much as the first time I listened / read it.
Elizabeth Evans is an amazing narrator.

WOW!
This is the second book in The Throne of Glass series I have read. (and my favourite so far)
Crown of Midnight by Sarah J. Maas is a breathtaking sequel that solidifies the Throne of Glass series as a must-read for fantasy lovers. From the first page, Maas plunges readers into a world brimming with danger, intrigue, and heart-pounding action, delivering a story that is as emotionally charged as it is thrilling.
The plot picks up where Throne of Glass left off, following the journey of Celaena Sardothien, now the King’s Champion. The pacing is expertly done, with every chapter leaving you on the edge of your seat, eager to uncover the next twist. Maas weaves a complex narrative filled with political intrigue, secrets, and betrayals, keeping you hooked until the very last page.
Celaena's character arc is nothing short of phenomenal in this instalment. We see her grapple with her dark past and the moral dilemmas that come with being the King's assassin. The layers to her character are peeled back, revealing vulnerabilities that make her both relatable and admirable. The supporting characters, including Dorian, Chaol, and Nehemia, are equally well-developed, each playing a significant role in Celaena’s journey and the overall plot.
One of the standout features of this book is its emotional depth. Maas does not shy away from exploring complex themes such as loyalty, loss, and sacrifice. The emotional stakes are high, and there are moments that will leave you reeling. The relationships in this book, whether friendships, romances, or rivalries, are crafted with such care that you can’t help but be emotionally invested.
