About this listen
Renowned pastor-theologian Gregory A. Boyd tackles the Bible's biggest dilemma.
The Old Testament God of wrath and violence versus the New Testament God of love and peace - it's a difference that has troubled Christians since the first century. Now, with the sensitivity of a pastor and the intellect of a theologian, Gregory A. Boyd proposes the "cruciform hermeneutic", a way to read the Old Testament portraits of God through the lens of Jesus' crucifixion.
In Cross Vision, Boyd follows up on his epic and groundbreaking study, The Crucifixion of the Warrior God. He shows how the death and resurrection of Jesus reframes the troubling violence of the Old Testament, how all of Scripture reveals God's self-sacrificial love, and, most importantly, how we can follow Jesus' example of peace.

Boyd knocks it out of the park
I read Cross Vision twice, a couple of months ago. The positive impact it has had on my Christian faith since is profound. Because of this book, I can wholeheartedly believe in the goodness of God as revealed in Christ. Worship has not been the same since for me. I am dumbfounded at the lengths God has gone to to secure our love without coercion. I am well and truly in the author's debt for this brave and life-giving book. God bless you Greg.

Great book
The book was great; really powerful. Unfortunately the narrator spoke very fast. This wasn’t an enormous problem because I could slow down the speed to 80%.on my phone.

Fantastic
Awesome book. I came away with a new appreciation of how important it is to see the character of God as being fully revealed in Jesus. Also a fresh reminder of how relevant Jesus is in the face of atrocities, whether historical or current day. Not sure if I am fully on board with everything, or if you can extend his thesis as far as he does, but the majority of it seems logical and sits right. I look forward to exploring the topic with other authors in Old Testament violence.
