Publisher's Summary
I never had any memories of family in my old world. Growing up in an environment where no one truly loved me - and, in turn, being callous and distant to everyone - made me an unrivaled fighter, but a crappy person. When I came to this world, my new parents taught me something I'd never known. I may not be the strongest fighter or mage in this world, but I'm a hell of a lot better person now than I ever would've been in my previous life.
In order to protect his loved ones, the mage Arthur Leywin must reveal the truth of his identity. If he is to fulfill his role in the war between the godlike asuras and the demonic Vritra, he must leave those he hopes to protect and travel to the land of deities and dragons.
First, however, he must escape. Arthur stands before the kings and queens of Dicathen, accused of a crime he did not commit. It will take an act of the gods to save him from having his magic stripped away, leaving him powerless in the war to come. Fortunately for Arthur, he can count the gods among his friends.

A good change of pace
Contrary to the dissatisfied reviews calling this book mainly focused on Arthur’s training arc boring, I thought it was consistent to standard and a necessary arc for the overall story.
It seems reasonable that long stories need to ebb & flow. It can’t always be max intensity, never letting up; if it were you’d get desensitised.
Considering the unfolding war coming up, I’m glad a decent amount of time was spent showing how the MC powered up. It’s frustrating to see barely any training for OP results.
If you don’t get so caught up in the constant “what’s next” and take time to enjoy the unfolding story, you’ll enjoy it.

Why is this even a book?
Arthur randomly tells his parents about his rebirth making them all sad and stuff before ditching them for 2 years and coming back in a cringeworthy entrance opening(literally opening the door to the S ranked bosses room to find the MC on top of the corpses having a mock battle to show off and basically having every main event revolve around him) + now 2 years have passed his family forgives him and thaatss what truly matters .... rubbish. The entire story is basically a training montage yet there isnt even a story to pad it out.. the academy stuff was really short as well he went into specifics about how he got his own training room and had a schedule and stuff but it was all fluff im properly done with the series.

Boring power leveling book
This book was a struggle. Very little plot or character development happened. For the most part this is about Arthur training, and for the most part it's dreadfully boring.
After the training arc we get caught up on the current state of affairs in the war and get introduced to some new and forgettable characters. There's a distinctly unsatisfying reunion between Tess and Art, followed by Arthur feeling immense guilt over enemy actions that he's not at fault for.
He's become more emo broody than before.
In short: Disappointing.
I hope that the next book is better, but the series' long-standing weaknesses (esp. characterisation and dialogue) are increasingly grating on me and after this dull entry I'm close to pulling the plug on the series.

been really enjoying this series, however...
this series has been fun so far however I feel like this particular entry would have been a skipped training montage had this been a film...
