About this listen
Lord Jasen of Grumhul, an impoverished young nobleman, has come to the Draelands to find a rich husband to help pay his father's debts. To the shock of everyone, he ends up attracting the attention of King Rilvor himself and the dragons who control the magic in the land.
Becoming royalty wasn't something Jasen either expected or wanted, but he can't control his growing feelings for the kind and handsome king. Scheming factions at Court conspire to keep him from Rilvor's side, and now, Jasen has to decide if the chance at true love with Rilvor is worth the burden of being the husband of a king.
Contains mature themes.

Love it
Love the characters but can't get over how Jason is easily moved by other people's opinions. I understand having low self-esteem and being made to feel less than he is, but I don't get how it took him so long to accept and follow his heart. He made so much mess at every turn, and others had to fix his mess.
It would be nice to read a book where the main characters understand/accept their love by the middle of the book. Giving us the readers time to enjoy the budding romance.
Loved the narrators voice.

mixed feelings
the narration, superb, they did an amazing job of capturing the characters' feelings and thoughts. whereas the story lacked elements. the story had holes that had the potential to be filled but were left unkempt. some moments were very dramatic, making you cringe at the obserbity of the situation. the love story and connection between the protagonist and the king was beautifully written, so you can see my mixed feelings but overall, I was hooked for most of it and left me wanting more.

consorting with dragons
a very light hearted and easily digestible book; a problematic romance between a king and a lord. The characters are great, and the politics and world building are nothing too intense. Overall a jovial story

Really enjoyable
I found this book very entertaining and look forward to reading more by this author. I have discovered fantasy books later in life and will definitely explore more especially if they are as well written as this one. Can’t beat the British narrators.

Please may I have some more
A little dramatic at times, yet it feels short. There were many areas where more story lines could expand this world.
I would love to hear more stories of the Dragons and the dray
