About this listen
Religion's decline in the modern world turns out to be a myth.
Christianity is the most widespread global belief system and promises to remain so well into the future. But for many educated Westerners, biblical Christianity is a dangerous idea - challenging some of their deepest beliefs.
Channeling state-of-the-art research, personal stories, and careful biblical study, Confronting Christianity explores 12 questions that keep many of us from considering faith in Christ. Look more closely, McLaughlin argues, and the reality of suffering, the complexity of sexuality, the desire for diversity, the success of science, and other seeming roadblocks to faith become signposts. Jesus becomes not a relic from the ancient world but our modern world's best hope.

Loved it
Great perspectives and some very useful metaphors I will definitely use in my life.
I will admit though, I struggled to follow some parts only because of the technical language but it was easy to catch up with.
Overall I greatly enjoyed listening to this book. It is well balanced with spiritual outlook and factual evidence making sense of both.

read this book
simply one of the most honest, compelling, confronting and beautiful books I have read. Rebecca threads a needle, being at once unapologetic for her faith while at the same time, through her deternined vulnerability, exuding empathy with all.

Exceptional coverage
An incisive, clear and well researched look at some of the biggest objections to the Christian faith today. Very, very well done.

Insightfully discussed.
Rebecca’s gentle, thoughtful and intelligent approach to discussing each of the big topics she tackles has given me the courage to do likewise. Some chapters demanded that I sit down and read them to my young adult children to help them navigate the world into which they have been born. Ahhh, but we are here for such a time as this!

CT's 2020 Apologetics/Evangelism Book of the Year
Well written and narrated by the author. She has an engaging personal story. The book contains lots of good illustrations and also looks at what the Bible has to say on each topic.
The twelve questions/chapters in the book are:
1 Aren't We Better Off without Religion?
2 Doesn't Christianity Crush Diversity?
3 How Can You Say There's Only One True Faith?
4 Doesn't Religion Hinder Morality?
5 Doesn't Religion Cause Violence?
6 How Can You Take the Bible Literally?
7 Hasn't Science Disproved Christianity?
8 Doesn't Christianity Denigrate Women?
9 Isn't Christianity Homophobic?
10 Doesn't the Bible Condone Slavery?
11 How Could a Loving God Allow So Much Suffering?
12 How Could a Loving God Send People to Hell?
I think this is an excellent read for both Christians and non-Christians.

Captivating
Rebecca bravely engages with the reasons we all find for dismissing the Christian Story. She is deeply transparent and vulnerable in the way she seeks answers to hard questions. If you don't believe, you owe it to yourself to at least hear clearly what you think you are rejecting. If you do believe, you will cry with joy as you see with compelling clarity the beauty of the story you are part of.

Thank you and Outstanding
I am sure that many are very thankful for the tremendous insights and ‘exegesis’ of the 12 issues ‘Confronting Christianity’, which Rebecca McLaughlin has authored. One of the best features includes the concise nature with which this has been achieved and yet with wonderful depth. Quotable quotes are in great supply. Rebecca McLaughlin’s intellect, personal honesty and apprehension of these 12 issues gives substantial food for reflection and application to everyday life as well as fruitful discussion among friends and adversaries alike. I also enjoyed the many references to other writers and worldviews. The narration by the author naturally lends itself to assisting good comprehension and communication of the author’s intent. I suggest an absolutely important read for believers and unbelievers alike.
