Publisher's Summary
From the New York Times best-selling author of the Rock Chick series comes a story of love, murder, and second chances....
When small-town Nebraska sheriff Hixon Drake meets Greta Dare, the connection couldn't be stronger, but the timing couldn't be worse.
Dealing with the fallout of a divorce he never wanted and setting up a new home for his kids, Hix becomes that guy, that one he never wanted to be, and puts a stop to things before they can even start. Protecting his kids and himself is his only priority.
Greta, on the other hand, has found the place for her and the brother she adores that's perfect for them - a sleepy little town in Nebraska. She's learned from life that there are no hopes and dreams. The only thing to look forward to is peace. And that's what she works hard to build for herself and her brother. Right up until Hix walks into her life.
Hix can't fight the pull and stay away from Greta for long. And Greta's finding it hard not to hope for something more with all the promise that is Hix.
But when the first murder that's happened in over five decades rocks his small, sleepy county, Hix has got to learn to trust again, convince Greta to take a shot with him, and at the same time catch a killer.
In other words, things are definitely...Complicated.

Quintessential Ashley
What did you like most about Complicated?
The depth of story, the feeling of warmth, love, family and friends, no body does it better than Kristen Ashley.
Who was your favorite character and why?
I have a few favorites! Greta for her strength, tenacity and inner beauty. Hix for his alpha badass sexyness. Shaw for the wonderful way he was like his Dad, the way be protected and looked after his sisters & Greta. And last, but not least, Andy, infact we almost stole the story line. What an absolutely beautiful character.
What does Lance Greenfield and Erin Mallon bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?
The narrators bring an extra element of emotion to the story line. It's one thing to read a book, but add a great narrator reading with emotion just brings an increditble richness to an already wonderful story. Bravo to both of them.
Any additional comments?
The is classis Kristen Ashley right here, think Colorado Mountain series and The Burg, Complicated totally had the same feel. I wanted to immerse myself in their town and love and fight right along with them. I adore Kristen Ashley's books and this one will be an amazing addion to her bookshelf. It's got all the drama you need, small town, murder, an ex wife you just want to slap, a repulsive Mother, an ex husband you want to shout at then hold tight and say I'll take you back. I will have a major hangover after finishing this book, I need more of it, unfortunately I think it's a standalone, but I need another 10 years in a second book. I'm positive Andy can find a loving relationship. I want to see Shaw find his woman! Do yourself a favour, this is a wonderfully rewarding story.

Kristen Ashley has done it again!
I love Kristen Ashley's books. The story was great, characters i became invested in and having the two narrators was a good way to show the two main characters point of view. Loved the ending which I didn't see coming and now just disappointed that I have finished listening to the story.

Enjoyed, but slow at times
I'm a big KA fan, so I was very eager to dive into this audio when it first came out. I enjoyed the story and was able to get invested into Gwen and Hicks story, both apart and together. The slow burn of their developing relationship at the beginning, reeled me, and I loved how it all came together. A great combination of romance, mystery and laughter, it made my commute to work and home much more enjoyable. I won't lie in saying that I may have taken a longer route every now and then.
The narrators did a great job, and I actually really enjoyed having the two narrators for the two different POV. I found it helped keep the flow better. And I absolutely loved listening to Lance Greenfield as Hicks. He was perfect.
While I mostly enjoyed the wonder of KA's story - and I'm not sure if this is because it's my first audio from KA, but I found the details in this book slightly exhausting. It didn't occur all the time, however there were times when I felt the explanation of certain tedious things rather wasteful. The urge to 'skip' for thirty seconds was rather tempting once in a while, but once the story moved along, it was great.
