About this listen

Are you in a codependent relationship without being aware of it? Or are you conscious of your codependency, and you want to find a solution? If yes, this is the right book for you!

Codependency is a relationship in which one person needs to rely on others for self-worth or approval. This relationship can cause anxiety or shame that keeps one from focusing on one’s own needs and desires. It can also lead one to feel entitled and jealous when the codependent partner doesn’t share some priority they perceive themselves to have in their life. Codependency can be characterized by having an attitude of “shoulding” on another person. This can manifest as resentment, anger, and frustration when a person perceives that a partner is not meeting their needs or expectations.

In some cases, the codependent person may believe that a problem exists in the relationship when it is their behavior that creates that problem. This can lead to the codependent’s partner feeling as if they have failed to meet other’s emotional needs and can potentially cause another argument. Communicating this self-perceived problem can lead to an improved relationship between the two people involved.

A common consequence of codependency is marital problems, especially ending an abusive relationship. Codependency can also manifest itself in other forms of addiction, including drug addiction, alcohol abuse, and overeating. This book covers:

  • What is codependency?
  • Who is codependent?
  • Differences between codependency and emotional dependency.
  • Common points with emotional dependency.
  • Codependence and how to get out of it: the first four steps.
