Publisher's Summary
New York Times bestselling author Robert Dugoni's acclaimed series continues as Tracy Crosswhite is thrown headlong into the path of a killer conspiracy.
While investigating the hit-and-run death of a young boy, Seattle homicide detective Tracy Crosswhite makes a startling discovery: the suspect is an active-duty serviceman at a local naval base. After a key piece of case evidence goes missing, he is cleared of charges in a military court. But Tracy knows she can't turn her back on this kind of injustice.
When she uncovers the driver's ties to a rash of recent heroin overdoses in the city, she realizes that this isn't just a case of the military protecting its own. It runs much deeper than that, and the accused wasn't acting alone. For Tracy, it's all hitting very close to home.
As Tracy moves closer to uncovering the truth behind this insidious conspiracy, she's putting herself in harm's way. And the only people she can rely on to make it out alive might be those she can no longer trust.

Storytelling at its best
Robert Dugoni is an incredible story teller. I have now listened to all his Tracey Crosswhite books and wish there was more.
The narrator delivered the stories perfectly.
I now have to let Tracey go and find another of Robert’s series. 10 stars for the author and his narrator.

They keep getting better
Another excellent story in this series. Perhaps even the best one yet, in my humble opinion.
Great development of the characters as the series progresses. One more in the series to go, and I shall definitely be buying it.
Again, great attention to detail but maintaining readability, or in the case of audio, listenability, if that’s a word! Highly recommended.

Lots of twists and turns
I listened to the whole Tracy Crosswhite stories so far. This was probably my favourite. It had a really well written story with a few unpredictable twists. I do find the narrator a bit painful as she talks so slow I found it frustrating. The author does sometimes include too much detail about furniture in houses and where it came from. I don’t care .
I can bear this however as I enjoy the story so well
