About this listen
I close my eyes and feel my heart begin racing. Someone is coming. They're going to find me.
A mother and her teenage daughter are found brutally murdered in a remote farmhouse, one defiled by multiple stab wounds and the other left lying like Sleeping Beauty waiting for her Prince. Reluctantly, clinical psychologist Joe O'Loughlin is drawn into the investigation when a former student, calling himself the Mindhunter, trading on Joe's name, has jeopardised the police inquiry by leaking details to the media and stirring up public anger.
With no shortage of suspects and tempers beginning to fray, Joe discovers links between these murders to a series of brutal attacks where the men and women are choked unconscious and the letter A is carved into their foreheads. As the case becomes ever more complex, nothing is quite what it seems, and soon Joe's fate, and the fates of those closest to him, become intertwined with a merciless, unpredictable killer....

Pretty Good but ....
Well read. This is the second book of MR's read by Sean Barrett that I have listened to - they make a great combination. Michael knows how to write a gripping yarn with a great balance between the real story line, description and the human side of things. The one annoying part towards the end was how 'sloppy' Joe was in letting Charlie go off by herself a few times and how 'sloppy' his friend the ex cop was in watching Charlie at the nursing home.

Absolutely exhausted from the roller coaster of emotions
This was my last purchase in a long list of Michael Robotham books featuring Joseph O’Lauchlan.
The authors incredible ability together with the wonderful narration carried me on such a roller coaster of emotions .
I have laughed, cried, encouraged ,shouted and despaired .Towards the end I had to keep reminding myself that ‘this was just a story’ .The characters had become so real and as usual the fast nail biting conclusion left me not only sitting on the edge of my seat but thoroughly exhausted . I would certainly recommend this book but only to people who have previously become acquainted with the characters

Sean Barrett is the best!
These books would not be half as good without Sean Barrett’s fantastic narration. Very talented.

A stands for Adultery
I read other books so I could extend the life of Joe O’Loughlin and his family.
Joe has such a wonderful gift, but it makes his life very dangerous.
The danger leaks through to his family, which terrifies him, and makes his wife distance herself.
I try to work out ‘ who dunnit’, but I gave up trying in this book and just rolled with the story.

Sensational !
An absolutely fantastic book read by an equally fantastic narrator. Michael Robotham at his best with the assistance of Sean Barrett.

Brilliant
A heartbreaking but brilliant journey. Some series get tired as they progress. This book is an exception.

Another amazing edition to the series- loved how we get further into Joe’s mind and family. Brilliant!
The relationships with Ruiz,
Julianne and the children. Absolutely love these books. Hoping one day to see a tv series from them.

I'm just a big Joe O'Loughlin fan
The narrator is very skilled but his voice is a bit "old" for this character and at times was so softly spoken that I couldn't hear him at all. Kind of mumbly and muffled, if that makes sense?
I've listened to all of the Joe O'Loughlin books and LOVE them.

Brilliant. Eloquent writing rivetting read.
I'd forgotten how beautifully Michael Robotham writes. Great exploration of the motivations behind evil set against the complex personal relationship of the main character. A very satisfying and suspenseful read. Thank you Mr Robotham for spending that time to write it.

Totally deceived and entertained by the Master.
Five stars all around as the author once more leads the reader through the back roads of Joe O' Loughlin's deceptive mind. I am disappointed in the manner he drags his offspring into adult hood with poor Charlie the target once more of a perverse mind, and Emma learning far too much too soon about the facts of life. What happens to adolescence to a child who grows as quickly? Personal opinions to one side this is yet another episode in the lives of Joe and Vincent not to be missed. A breathtaking adventure that claims one's attention to the last words uttered by the brilliant narrator Sean Barrett.
