About this listen

Leaders are forged in the fires of war. Iron Age warriors Dug and Lowa captured Maidun castle and freed its slaves. But now they have conquered it, they must defend it.

A Roman invasion is coming from Gaul, but rather than uniting to protect their home, the British tribes battle each other - and see Maidun as an easy target.

Meanwhile Lowa's spies infiltrate Gaul, discovering the Romans have recruited bloodthirsty British druids, and Maidunite Ragnall finds his loyalties torn when he meets Rome's charismatic general, Julius Caesar.

War is coming. Who will pay its price?

So Entertaining

I absolutely enjoyed this book and the next one from the first word to the last. There was not one single wasted character or word in it. It is funny, the characters are just awesome and the villains are either interesting or likable in their own psychopathic way. I found myself laughing out loud sometimes, and I just love Spring. She's the best character I've read about among a list of goodies lately! Awesome book. Magic, humour, super entertaining story. Get it. You won't regret it. I have the second one too and I'm hanging for the third. The narrator is fantastic too, I love how he does Spring's voice and Jumanka (sp?). Hillarious and authentic!

Drags in places but still worthwhile!

Not as entertaining as Book 1 - I wanted more Dug less Ragnall - still, it's a good book - well written with fantastic narration

Brutal, funny, sad.

This was a journey..its the last in the series and i found it, at times, distressing. The Iron Age sounds like a brutal time and I'm surprised anyone found love at all...

Love Angus Watson!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Great story in this 2nd set in the series. I have enjoyed it from start to finish - something different and always enthralling.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Doug was my favourite character, and I was glad he continued in this 2nd part even if as a ghostly figure. I find Spring to be a very interesting character as well.

What does Sean Barrett bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

He's a fabulous narrator - it adds so much to the story. His range of voices is amazing.

Slipped

After book 1, this slipped into cliche, or "soap" ... So, good or bad, I gave up.
