Publisher's Summary

A unique cocktail of personal memoir, cultural criticism and Hollywood history by the one and only Quentin Tarantino.

The long-awaited first work of nonfiction from the author of the number one New York Times bestselling Once Upon a Time in Hollywood: a deliriously entertaining, wickedly intelligent cinema book as unique and creative as anything by Quentin Tarantino.

In addition to being among the most celebrated of contemporary filmmakers, Quentin Tarantino is possibly the most joyously infectious movie lover alive. For years he has touted in interviews his eventual turn to writing books about films.

Now, with CINEMA SPECULATION, the time has come, and the results are everything his passionate fans - and all movie lovers - could have hoped for.

Organized around key American films from the 1970s, all of which he first saw as a young moviegoer at the time, this book is as intellectually rigorous and insightful as it is rollicking and entertaining.

At once film criticism, film theory, a feat of reporting, and wonderful personal history, it is all written in the singular voice recognizable immediately as QT's and with the rare perspective about cinema possible only from one of the greatest practitioners of the artform ever.

intersting insight into 70's cinema

intersting insight into 70's cinema, Would have been nice if Tarantino had narrated the whole book, but even with the other voice you could hear Quentin talk.

QT reads one chapter

Despite it being Quentin words, he only narrates the first chapter. Why? I’m left asking this too. Nothing online confirmed why he got in the booth for just one chapter. That being said; that chapter will satisfy any QT fan.
Buy the actual book I reckon.

Absolutely loved this book. Insightful, passionately obsessive about cinema it gave me goosebumps and is a must for anybody like myself who grew up watching Tarantino movies.

My name is Buck

could have been twice as long and it wouldn't have been enough still. I would love to see QT and Kevin Smith talk about films and directors.

Quentin should have read the whole thing.

The sections not read by Quentin are super frustrating. It’s so clearly his voice. If you’re going to take the days weeks and months to write a book in your own very specific vernacular about authenticity in filmmaking. The take the 1 extra day and record the whole audio book. Enjoyed the thoughts and stories. The book dripped with his love 70s cinema. Give the Quentin origin story as a great modern filmmaker.
