Letztlich aber war der Siegeszug des christlichen Glaubens unaufhaltsam. An seinem Endpunkt stand ein Europa, das durch die lateinische Sprache, durch Liturgie, Kirchenbaukunst und Kultur bei allen Unterschieden zu einem einheitlichen Gesicht fand.
