Publisher's Summary

Stephen Fry brings the richness of these magical stories to life in the original British recordings.

Turning the envelope over, his hand trembling, Harry saw a purple wax seal bearing a coat of arms; a lion, an eagle, a badger and a snake surrounding a large letter 'H'.

Treat your ears to a performance so rich and captivating you'll imagine yourself in the halls of Hogwarts. Wherever you listen, the unmistakable voice of Stephen Fry is guaranteed to guide you ever more deeply into this magical story and transport you to the heart of the adventure.

Harry Potter has never even heard of Hogwarts when the letters start dropping on the doormat at number four, Privet Drive. Addressed in green ink on yellowish parchment with a purple seal, they are swiftly confiscated by his grisly aunt and uncle. Then, on Harry's eleventh birthday, a great beetle-eyed giant of a man called Rubeus Hagrid bursts in with some astonishing news: Harry Potter is a wizard, and he has a place at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. An incredible adventure is about to begin!

Theme music composed by James Hannigan

Having become classics of our time, the Harry Potter stories never fail to bring comfort and escapism. With their message of hope, belonging and the enduring power of truth and love, the story of the Boy Who Lived continues to delight generations of new listeners.

Splendid

I would recommend the Harry Potter series to anyone young (or young at heart). I would also recommend this as a great introductory audiobook for those newly subscribed to Audible.

Stephen Fry brilliantly encapsulates the soul of the Potter saga and his background in literature and acting shines through his flawless narration. You will laugh at his rendition of Hagrid's accent and snort at Peeves' mischievous cackle and though this may be perhaps the third medium and fifth time that you have read, um watched, er listened to The Philosopher's Stone, you will still get the first time chills as you did when Harry first entered Diagon Alley and when he set his gaze upon Hogwarts Castle.

The imagination, detail, and heart put into this series transcends age and it is for this reason it is already a modern classic beloved not only by children, but adults who wish to feel that wonder again. Rowling gave the world a gift and it doesn't matter what medium it is absorbed in, you can't help but dive right into their world and feel every emotion the characters feel.

love it

Absolutely loved it! I have all 7 of the audio books on cassette and used to listen to them every night when I went to bed for years when I was a kid! The sleep timer is a great feature too, and I will definitely be using my next credit on number 2 :) Cam from New Zealand

LOVE IT!

As an avid fan of Harry Potter, this was highly enjoyable. Great narration by Steven Fry, I can listen to it all day, when he does the voices you know exactly which character he is imitating. It brings back memories of when I first read this when I was very young and Harry Potter was just released. Love it!

Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone

Stephen Fry as narrator enhanced the reading. It was easier to stay focused on the story as an audio book than if i had brought the physical one as I could listen while commuting etc instead of having to physically stay still.
