A wonderful story of great suffering and joy.
This has been my second read/ listen. I enjoyed it just as much as the first time. The people depicted are both in fear for their lives and questioning where God is in this horror of war and deprivation of liberty yet they learn to trust him as he answers prayers although not in the way they expected. Each character that survives has grown into a person that truly appreciates the bond of love with their fellow man and God teaches them not to hate their enemies…eventually. A truly engaging book.

Riveting page turner!
Each character portrayed in a way that I could relate to them!
The strong message of where their courage and endurance comes from ! Their Creator!!
This could have been s very depressing subject but throughout their is many rays of light and humor and humility runny through out!
Sad to say goodbye to these characters! Thank you Lyn Austin! Looking fed to your next book in my library!

Imagining the faith needed in the worst of times
The story was well told. The characters became real and loved. It showed how God is still with us in the most difficult is horrid imaginable. He will sustain with hope.

Beautiful Bravery At It’s Best!
Many brave and sorry souls weave their threads together to tell us their story of utter despair, desperation and darkness while they hold onto Hope, bravery, sacrifice for a better tomorrow. Once you enter this world, you’ll want to keep listening for what happens next. A terrific well written story.

Predictable storyline
Bored and very strong religious tone. This story has been done before and over and over. Unfortunately this version had a poor use of an amazing extraordinary journey of courage
