About this listen
Cats have been popular household pets for thousands of years, and their numbers only continue to rise. Today there are three cats for every dog on the planet, yet cats remain more mysterious, even to their most adoring owners. In Cat Sense, renowned anthrozoologist John Bradshaw takes us further into the mind of the domestic cat than ever before, using cutting-edge scientific research to explain the true nature - and needs - of our feline friends. Tracing the cat’s evolution from solitary hunter to domesticated companion, Bradshaw shows that cats remain independent, predatory, and wary of social contact, qualities that often clash with the demands of our modern lifestyles.
If we’re to live in harmony with cats, Bradshaw contends, we first need to understand and adapt to their ancient quirks. A must-listen for any cat lover, Cat Sense challenges our most basic assumptions about cats and promises to dramatically improve their lives - and ours.

Real science, real cat love.
Bradshaw has produced a study that examines the history and biology of the cat from a fair and rational position. It is a dense and sometimes a little over-detailed work but Malcolm’s narration keeps it moving. A very useful addition to any cat lovers knowledge base and an exceptionally intelligent analysis of the future of domestic cats (and their human care-givers).

Boring cat history
What would have made Cat Sense better?
Make it engaging and interesting so I don't lose focus.
What was most disappointing about John Bradshaw’s story?
It's boring.
How could the performance have been better?
Less monotone please. I suppose it's the fault of the writer because it's very dull material.
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Cat Sense?
I wouldn't go on and on and on about the history of cats at the start of the book.... to be honest I didn't make it further than history about cats because the book was so boring. I wanted to become a better pet owner, not become knowledgeable in every little detail about the history of cats.
Any additional comments?
BORING. Finishing the listen to this audiobook is right at the bottom of a very long list of things to do.
