About this listen
Carrhae is the fourth installment in the Parthian Chronicles, the adventures of King Pacorus of Dura, and follows on from Parthian Vengeance.
The great Parthian Civil War is over, leaving behind an empire exhausted by years of bloodshed. But no sooner have hostilities ended than Armenia, the client state of Rome, declares war on the empire and unleashes its army against Parthia. Even Dura’s mighty army cannot stave off a series of defeats as the enemies of Parthia circle the empire like hungry wolves. And Pacorus knows that Marcus Licinius Crassus is also marching east to extend Rome’s rule from the Euphrates to the Indus and enslave the whole of Parthia. The scene is set for a final showdown on the battlefield of Carrhae, a clash that will decide the destinies of two empires and two men.
A map of the Parthian Empire at the time of Pacorus (the 1st century BC) can be found on the maps page of my website.

what stood out was that I love the story
what I really don't want / like is if you follow a series of books is when the narrator swaps.. I do understand that we on budged.. but if you listening four books and you start to identify carracters by the voice ... and all of a sudden you get a new narrator with an different accent and the players of that story don't sound right... sorry but it gets wrong big time. Understand please the first 4 books the main actor has a good warrior voice and all of a sudden it becomes feminine. that guy is good but it's the wrong job for him and for us. It just ruins the work of all party's Author, Narrator and me / us the listener. don't do it... it really hurts

Very disappointing narration.
I have enjoyed listening to the first three books very much. Unfortunately the narrator of this fourth and final book of the series is someone different from the first three books.
Whilst I understand what he is trying to do by adding a middle eastern accent to the characters, I feel the flow of the story telling suffers. It is very hard to follow as there is not a lot of differentiation between the characters. The character's voices are vastly different to the other three books and I found it too hard to listen to whilst driving as a lot of concentration was needed to actually work out which character was speaking.
I even found the American twang in some of the characters annoying.
I am going to have to buy the Kindle edition in order to complete the story, which is very frustrating, but I can not listen to this book in its current format.
