About this listen

Prescott Ellis - Pestilence They call us The Four Horsemen. Four friends forged in fire and blood. No one knows where we came from nor how we got our name. Drake, Francis, West and I rule the financial industry like kings. Gods in our own right. We grew up with a fifth. A girl. Scarlett. She was one of us until she was ripped away from her life. The only trace of her was dust in the wind. One day she returned to the city and sought us out.

Scarlett couldn’t remember who we’d been to her, but we recalled her all too well. If she knew what was good for her, she would have never come back. The moment she stepped through the doors of Fortuity, it was the beginning of her end. And the start of our reign over the girl who wanted us dead. A dark why choose contemporary retelling of the four horsemen of the apocalypse set in Sarah Bailey's Dark Universe with cliffhangers and a HEA in the final book. This is a DARK romance and therefore comes with a content warning. Please see the author's website for full details. Duet Narration by Zara Hampton Brown and David William Keegan.

Slow beginning, but it really kicked in from about 40%

Having four MMCs that are all pivotal to the storyline means that not a lot of time passed in the story by the time you moved through each POV.

Getting to know all the characters as they interacted really started to feel natural at about the 40% mark. From then on, I could stop turning the page to see what was coming next.

I didn't realise when getting this book that it was a Part 1, but I will continue on with the story to see how everything develops with them all.

I read on Kindle and read along with Audible. The duet style narration was great. Having the male voices come through in places during Scarlett's chapters and vice versa just made the story really come alive.

Didn’t Wow!

The story seemed a bit childish and the narrators were terrible.
Scarlett spoke like an 8 year old school child.
Maybe it might’ve been more enjoyable reading it rather than listening to it.
Not for me.
