About this listen
Part of a new look for Hercule Poirot for the 21st Century.
Read by Hugh Fraser, who plays Captain Hastings in the popular TV series.
Mr Shaitana was famous as a flamboyant party host. Nevertheless, he was a man of whom everybody was a little afraid. So, when he boasted to Poirot that he considered murder an art form, the detective had some reservations about accepting a party invitation to view Shaitana’s private collection.
Indeed, what began as an absorbing evening of bridge was to turn into a more dangerous game altogether…

Poker face required!
A fantastic mystery, originally described at Poirot’s made to measure murder in ‘the ABC murders’ Christie writes a fantastic mystery. It’ll keep you guessing until the very end and Hugh Fraser does an amazing job as always. Also the first book with Ariadne Oliver! I do love a bit of author self insertion.

One of the best Christie novels well narrated
I don't always love how Hugh Fraser narrates the voice of Hercule Poirot, and he is limited with some types of voices in other audiobooks (American accents!), but this book is beautifully narrated. His Ariadne Oliver is perfect and a bit funny (but she's a funny character). The tone is great, it's very evenly narrated, no big jumps or drops in volume or energy. The story is one of Agatha Christie's best, so I'm grateful that the narration was good too!

One of Christie’s better stories
Brilliant narration by Hugh Fraser as always. I wish he had narrated more than he has. I enjoyed the plot and characters in this story. A good Christie in my opinion.

Brilliant and entertaining
Agatha Christie is in fine form here. It is a clever and engaging mystery which keeps you guessing to the very end. Christie always has a wonderful knack for observing and expressing human behaviour and her characters are fascinating and also very amusing. this is wonderful. Hugh Fraser is positively excellent as the narrator and I really enjoy his understated and engaging portrayal of Poirot and he does a very enjoyable Ariadne Oliver as well. One of my all time favourites.

Loved the red herrings!
I had previously watched David Suchet as Poirot in the television version of this book, and thought I knew the whole plot but it was wonderful how different the book was and how many false trails were cast before the reader along the way. Loved it!

massive fan of both A. Christ and Mr H. Fraser
loved this story so much. I had read this many years ago but still forgot how it was solved and was pleasantly delighted again.
