About this listen

On a cold winter evening in a secluded fjord in Iceland, a neighbour visits the house of a family that has not been seen in a week. No one comes to the door when he knocks. After breaking down the back door, his worst fears are realised. Their home is now a horrific crime scene.

Policeman Týr and forensic pathologist Iðunn are called to the house to investigate. As the case advances, harrowing secrets about the family are revealed. Along with a young policeman Karó, the investigative team quickly realise that the case forces them to face their own suppressed past and opens a Pandora's box to much darker crimes.

Can't Run, Can't Hide is a masterclass in tension from one of the world's finest crime writers.

This book has many issues, but I think I can sum it up by saying that it has a very "novice" feel throughout. For example the author constantly explains how the reader should feel and why instead of leaving those simple connections up to the reader, the dialogue is unnatural and stiff, all of the characters are one dimensional and similar... just a lot of elementary mistakes that added up to a rather cliche and disappointing novel. I wish this book had been edited and rewritten with a lot of changes, because it's not just the reader that misses out, it's also not nice for the author to read poor reviews, and I can't help but wish it had been avoided with rigorous editing. I wasn't going to write this review as it's so negative, but audiobooks are expensive and I feel reviews should warn readers where to rethink such a costly choice.

I wish I had a better review to give
