About this listen
Cassie Smith has been out of work for a while but she has an idea. Drawing on her love of Christmas, she begins charging for small things: wrapping presents; writing cards; tree-decorating. She's soon in huge demand and Cassie's business, Calling Mrs Christmas, is born.
Carter Randall wants to make Christmas special for his children, so he enlists Cassie's help, and his lavish requests start taking up all her time. Thank goodness she can rely on her loving partner Jim to handle the rest of her clients.
When millionaire Carter asks Cassie to join his family on a trip to Lapland, she knows she shouldn't go... Suddenly Cassie finds herself facing a heart-breaking choice that could change her entire life.
Join Cassie as she takes you on a romantic and emotional rollercoaster ride in Calling Mrs Christmas.

Nice story, wrong narrator.
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
The story was what I wanted- something light, entertaining and Christmassy. I really disliked the narrator- her voice did not match the age or personality of the main character, and the voices she put on for the male characters was just plain odd. Her use of emphasis changed the character of the story. She also read it ridiculously slowly, and ruined the rhythm of the story.
Who might you have cast as narrator instead of Julia Franklin?
Imogen Church
If this book were a film would you go see it?

Beautiful story, lacking real emotions
I bought this book because the story line sounded appealing. It's a nice idea and I still like it including the very fuzzy Christmassy ending.
Unfortunately, the story telling dragged exceptionally. Everything was described in painful detail, Christmas decorations and suicide attempt to the same extend, and therefore neglecting to let anything stand out more than another.
I wish some relationships had been explored rather rather detail rather than added on like an afterthought, especially the mother-daughter relationship.
The story could have ended with chapter 80, but it carried on for another whole hour, including another 3 possible endings.
The narrator was not ideal for this story. Her voice sounds older than the 35 years the main character is supposed to be. While she sounds pleasant enough, she drones on without any special intonation.
If I had read the book instead of listening to the audiobook, I'd have skipped to the last page and finished early.
