Call Me by Your Name first swept across the world in 2007. It is the story of a sudden and powerful romance that blossoms between an adolescent boy and a summer guest at his parents' cliffside mansion on the Italian Riviera. During the restless summer weeks, unrelenting but buried currents of obsession, fascination, and desire intensify their passion as they test the charged ground between them and verge toward the one thing both already fear they may never truly find again: total intimacy. André Aciman's critically acclaimed debut novel is a frank, unsentimental, heartrending elegy to human passion.
More praise for Call Me By Your Name:
"Hammer’s soft, velvety voice lends itself perfectly to the story and its Italian setting. While you might think this one isn’t worth a listen if you’ve already seen the movie or read the book, many reviewers say it is still worth taking in even if you know the story - some even say it’s worth listening to more than once." Editors Select, October 2017
Andre Aciman's critically acclaimed novel may finally be stepping into modern classic status, having recently emerged from relative obscurity due to the upcoming movie release starring Armie Hammer. And its place in the literary canon is well deserved, depicting perfectly the infatuated experience of first love (I won't say "feeling" because the picture Aciman paints is not a singular "thing" - it's very much a journey through obsession). The story is beautiful, erotic, and feels firmly rooted in human truths (and will make you blush). But what makes it truly worthy of listening to - and why it's my pick for October - is THAT voice. Armie Hammer's narration is among the best I've ever experienced. —Emily, Audible Editor
Critic Reviews
"...Hammer's voice is brimming with such melody that, if you listen to it long enough, you can probably get drunk off it." (Vulture.com)
"...Armie Hammer (who plays Oliver in the movie) steps effortlessly into Elio's interior world. The result is staggering." (BookRiot)

Be prepared to face up to what happens after the book ends
I have avoided books in romance for such long time as the mental turmoil stirred by these books can take a lot of efforts to settle. I listened to this nevertheless after seeing Armie Hammer’s interview and the movie trailer. Now I have to face up to the consequences: I am haunted and heartbroken. I keep coming back to the night when Elio found Oliver sitting on a rock, resentments surged when Oliver said he was going to getting married, tears dropped when Oliver revealed what he wrote on the back on the back of the postcards, I choked up after what Oliver responded to Elio’s promise that one day her will come over for dinner. The books ends on a rather clam note, as if so many things have washed away by time, yet so many thoughts paralyse my mind: why didn’t Oliver mention anything about his future wife I that six weeks? Why Elio had not visit Oliver during his college years in the States ? What would happen if he did ? Where is their future heading to, is it going be another short reunion several years later ? And, what about myself ? Will I ever be able to find my own Oliver ? Is the love between them even realistic in the real world? Or would I actually prefer to go on and live a drama free life ? This book opens up some many inconvenient questions that I now can’t help thinking about...........

Juicy
I felt I could really imagine what it’s like to be a wealthy academic in Italy in the 1980s. Stunning, emotional, sensual (the peach!), and Armie Hammer’s voice is perfect. Do yourself a favour!

Brilliant and artistically genius
The story was incredible, and made even better by one of the movie adaptations stars, Armie Hammer, narrating the entire way through. Though it's short in length this book took me a while to get through because of how much of my attention it grabbed and held onto. Definitely not something to half-listen to on the way to work. So many of the passing sentences and descriptors of Elio's life seemed to me like something I would take a lifetime to think up. What a brilliant author, indeed. One of the best books I've read so far on this site!

Uh just lovely
Just finished this so I’m still in thrall...
Lovely, romantic, sexy, luscious, heart breaking. Whatever flaws there were have left me. The reader’s voice is beautiful also. Highly recommended.

True romance
The authors use of language to paint this story is beautiful, if at times a little prone to wandering. The narrator is a perfect choice, especially if you are also a fan of the recent movie. A truly romantic story that I think anyone can find a part of themselves in if they have ever been in love.
