About this listen

In the final days of 2019, a new and deadly virus was quietly spreading through the city of Wuhan, China. Within six months it would kill half a million people worldwide, infect a further 10 million, and change the way all of us live, work, and play forever.

Now, for the first time, the real story of the greatest global crisis of the age can be told.

Reporters Dylan Howard and Dominic Utton, collaborating from New York and London - infection hotspots in what would become two of the worst-hit nations on Earth - have together mapped the rise, spread, and impact of the virus...and uncovered some explosive revelations.

COVID-19: The Greatest Cover-up in History - from Wuhan to the White House delivers the unfettered truth about what is undoubtedly the biggest political scandal of our time. It shows in unprecedented detail how governments in China, the UK, and the US not only failed to protect their citizens from the threat of the disease but actively conspired to put their own political and economic ideologies above the lives of ordinary people.

From early attempts by Beijing to silence any reports of the new virus to the inability of the WHO to act decisively; from warnings received and ignored by President Trump to decisions taken by the UK government that directly led to the loss of tens of thousands of lives; from whispers of military experiments to outlandish 5G conspiracy theories, Howard and Utton separate fact from fiction, science from hysteria, and expose a trail of dead bodies, willful mismanagement, incompetence, arrogance, deliberate cover-ups, and outrageous lies that raise serious questions about who is really responsible for the hundreds of thousands killed by COVID-19.

Through vigorous investigations, dedicated reporting, and exclusive first-person sourcing, COVID-19 unearths a more complex understanding of the rise, spread, and consequences of the first six months of the pandemic than has yet been seen and exposes shocking revelations about the roles and motivations of the American and British governments in the crisis.

The true story of COVID-19 is not just that of a silent killer that suddenly invaded the world...it’s the scandal of a global tragedy that could have - and should have - been prevented.

Not worth a read

This book starts out with some promise, but goes down the dirt track with political bias , it’s disappointing. This book has some interesting points of view but it’s like the media has written most of it with facts that are not true, overall pretty disappointing.

Not much information apart from bashing Trump and Boris Johnson

The book starts interesting but later becoming no more than a piece of left wing voice with a large proportion of bashing Trump and Boris Johnson. Not a good analytical writing of Covid-19. There are much better books out there.

Disappointed. Started off alright, then.........

Starting the book off I really believed the writer was going to take a journalistic approach. Give the facts known in a broad spectrum. Instead he decided to turn it into a left wing hate speech again Trump and Boris Johnson.
He praises all countries that shut down there people, in a narrow minded view saying that lockdowns are essentially the only way out of this.
He does not take into account any of the mental and physical implications of this.
I'm truly disappointed with this. Just Left wing trash with a few facts sprinkled in to entice readers to his point of view. For shame, as a journalist (or journalistic styled book) it should be your obligation to report all facts, not manipulate a small amount of facts to put your point across.

good facts

it was ok but just really going over the facts that we already knew .. good though to have a summary. because so much more has happened since it seems a little out of date. for instance now in nz a large portion of people are protesting at jacinda forcing mandated vaccines for certain jobs .. not as compassionate anymore. maybe in another year this book could be updated to reveal a bigger and more worrying outcome of this pandemic with governments turning into dictators all over the world...

Biased Misinformation?

Certainly the info about Ruby Princess is incorrect. And as there are no footnotes or endnotes, I really don't trust the story. Seems like a beat up of world leaders who were dealing with a disease they knew nothing about. I doubt the author could have done better, and he has completely discounted the health of the world economy and the available info on Fauci's full involvement. I won't be reading more from this author.

Nothing new

I was looking forward to a summary of the sequence of events in the first six months of the pandemic and that was delivered to a point until it became a summary of all of Donald Trump's errors and motives.

Keeping in mind this was written in June 2020 (and I'm reading in December 2021), the authors might follow up with subsequent events including a review of Chapter 9 using Sharri Markson's "What Really Happened In Wuhan" (no longer available on Audible.com.au) which investigates in tremendous detail, the source of the virus (or just stick with the conspiracy theory rhetoric). They might also like to follow up on the public sentiment of the countries mentioned after 18 months of lockdowns and lockouts.

Oh and a Prime Minister is not a Head of State, Queen Elizabeth II is the Head of State of New Zealand.

Not worth the paper it’s written on

Terrible. Never have I read such bias. Complete misinformation. No backed up evidence of what they propose happened and then followed by bashing of politicians. Very disappointed. No real journalism, just an agenda to be pushed.. surprise surprise.

A biased WEF review of the epidemic!

A very biased mainstream media representation of the epidemic. It seems it was sponsored by the World Economic Forum and CCP, It does not take into consideration the authoritarian approach by governments, the loss of human rights the mandates and the human and social cost of suicide and job loss.
