Publisher's Summary
With a baseball career that has spanned over 40 years, Walter, a father of two sons and now a grandfather of two grandsons, wants to pass down the love for the sport of baseball. The game taught him so much as a child that he created Buzzy Baseball the Baseball Bee, with the hope that children would be able to learn simple life lessons via the sport of baseball.
Buzzy Baseball the Baseball Bee will help toddlers/children ages two to nine learn life lessons through the great game of baseball. Buzzy and his friends Sting and Bumble will help toddlers/children learn about teamwork, sharing, helping others, and much more.
Baseball helps young children understand what it means to be a part of a community and a team. Many of today's youth sports, especially baseball, have become overly structured and organized. Children feel anxiety as well as fear of disappointing their family and peers. Buzzy will teach children not to fear striking out or dropping a fly ball. As long as children give their best and have fun, that is all that will matter.
Buzzy will allow children to enjoy simply having fun with their friends and learn valuable life lessons while playing and practicing baseball. It is important to feel part of a team and to feel that you are contributing to your team. This is true in a classroom, on a playing field, and at home.
Buzzy will make for great bedtime stories for both boys and girls. As parents, it is important to remember that your child should never feel the need to perform to meet anyone else's standards. Every child simply needs to give their best and compete to the best of their ability.
The author Walter A. Beede, whose nickname is Buzzy, grew up in a neighborhood filled with pickup baseball and wiffleball games. He went from being one of the worst players in his neighborhood to becoming one of the best in his state as a high schooler. The sport of baseball gave him a great understanding of how to deal with life's ups and downs. Hitters do not get a hit with every at bat, pitchers do not strike out every batter, and fielders sometimes make errors. Making mistakes in the classroom or at home helps children learn in all aspects of life.
Buzzy Baseball will be a fun series to share with your children, whether it's bedtime or simply story time during a ride home, or maybe even a rainy day.
