About this listen
"But the stars that marked our starting fall away. We must go deeper into greater pain, for it is not permitted that we stay." (Dante Alighieri, Inferno, AD 1301)
At the start of the 22nd century, the starship Acheron is in orbit around WISE 5571, only, unbeknownst to the crew, the ship has been overrun by telepathic extraterrestrials. How do you fight an enemy that distorts everything you see? What do you do when you can't trust your own senses, let alone anyone around you?

A real mind game in space
An unusual twist on the space exploration motif. Very listenable and intriguing. The narration is enjoyable

Stick with it, it’s worth it
Super interesting concepts, in a fresh sci-fi context. Peter’s plots are always super thought provoking. Like another reviewer said though, (paraphrasing) it’s so unique it is hard to break away from to get through the character development and back into it without feeling like you’ve lost a bit of momentum. Having said that - worth it!
Not sure about the narration - I felt the male voices actually held truer than the feminine, which was interesting.

interesting...
The story explores some bold and fascinating concepts that are very thought provoking. Being very thought provoking, I find you want to stay in the setting as much as possible to see what happens; IMO deviating from the story arc to delve into character backstory/etc as much as it does isn't nearly as necessary in this book as it might be for other plots. I know that's important for many readers/listeners and they'd find this book thoroughly enjoyable for that but for me personally it became an unnecessary distraction that left my attention wondering and it very easy to lose track of the story progression.
