About this listen

Book four of the USA Today best-selling Carly Moore series.

Be careful where you dig....

Life in Drum, Tennessee has been quiet since corruption was uncovered in the sheriff’s department three months ago - too quiet. Still, Carly is shocked when she discovers one of her sweetest lunch customers at the tavern has committed murder in cold blood.

Carly is certain the woman was fulfilling an infamous “favor” for the town patriarch, Bart Drummond, but now she has to prove it. She already knew that Drum has two sides - the side they show the world, and the seedy underbelly. Only in Drum, all things seedy lead back to two men - Bart Drummond and the local drug king, Todd Bingham.

The deeper Carly gets, the more she begins to question everything, even her desire to have her own family. But even if she could forget Bart’s threat is hanging over her head, she can’t forget that her father is still searching for her, ready to drag her back to her own death. She needs to uncover the truth, but everything is buried in secrets.

Small Town Dark Underground

This book was an audible listen , and I just want to start by praising the performer for her fantastic narration.

What starts off as, what appears to be, a random crime.
A woman walking into an insurance office and shooting a man she didn’t know.

Turns into another case to be solved by Carly Moore and Deputy Sheriff Marco.

Church goer , mother of three meek and mild, Pam is in prison.

As Carly and Marco try to discover the reasoning behind this bizarre turn of events, they begin to think it may have links to Bart Drummond and his notorious system of favours.

Hoping they can finally get dirt on the town tyrant, Carly does what she does best…

Snoops, and asks lots of awkward questions of the people of the people of Drum.

And.
Like previous books in the series, she ruffles feathers.

The tiny town of Drum has a dark underbelly, and there are some dangerous people who don’t want secrets revealed.

But as Carly uncovered a heinous betrayal of trust of the worst kind, she finds her original theory going out the window as she attempts to help the vulnerable.

Despite her well meaning actions, she has still managed to piss the wrong people off.
The consequences of which sees someone close to her in harms way.

Okay.

I found Carly marginally less annoying in this book.

And I’m so happy about her new relationship status.. YAY!

However, with this book ending on another open ended cliffhanger?
It will definitely be on to the next
