Publisher's Summary

Meshel Laurie has had a very varied career, but whether she's working the front desk at a brothel or anchoring drive-time radio, it's always had one common thread: she is a self-confessed workaholic. Thankfully, over the years she's learnt to temper her tendencies with a bit of Buddhist perspective - and you can too!

Meshel shares her own experiences with wit and wisdom and explores how to navigate the modern workplace (and stay sane), how to handle difficult relationships with colleagues, how to deal with work stress and - of course - how to achieve that ever-elusive work-life balance.

surprisingly enjoyable

It has taken me sometime to be able to get around to listening to this book. But then thought well you can liten too it while you are sitting for tgat whole hour in the car waiting for you son to finish up at school, and while you are working from home. So I have been. I found sone really interesting things that I noticed I have been doing.. And I plan to fix now rather then head down a path of what happened to Meshel.. Thank you for writing this book. xx

Must Listen

This is an easy insightful, entertaining and touching book. Honest and open it presents the teachings in such a practical way - if you're not a parent it is easy to relate to which is so rare. It was great to find a book written by a busy working mother that a 'no-children by choice' woman could relate to and appreciate as well.

Life changing!

Meshel can do no wrong! A funny, intelligent, captivating book that had me chuckling and nodding along. This book shows us that Buddhism can be applied to everybody's life. I'm going to seriously look more into it and learn how to apply the teachings to my own busy life.

A Lovely way to find some Calm

Whether you're really busy, or just a little bit too busy; and, despite your views on Buddhism, this book is great. It's narrated by Meshel in a way that sounds assured, and gives plenty of food for thought about what you're doing with your time, and why you're doing it. Sometimes, I find case examples a little boring, but Meshel's examples were relevant and interesting. Meshel and I are the same age - I could really relate to the stories of her younger self in Australia. It's really helped me at a time when my work was spiralling out of control and intruding into my personal life too much, just by being constantly on my mind. It's helped me consider the value I inject into maintaining personal relationships and friendships, and made me really think about what I'm doing and what I'm doing it for. Thanks to Meshel for taking the time to share this book with us all, it's really been a lovely story of hers to tell, and had the impact I'm sure she was hoping it would.

Brilliant! So Relatable

I loved this book—so funny and so insightful. I can really relate to what Meshel talks about in relation to chasing happiness and creating problems to mask underlying issues. This book is also a great reminder of how much there is to be grateful for in life.

Absolutely loved it.

So funny and also relatable.
Interesting Buddhist views and beliefs. I don’t agree with all the beliefs of Buddhism but most focus on self growth, love, possibilities, positively and gratitude.
Love the positive attitude in this book.
Meshel narration is fantastic
