Publisher's Summary

From the author of The Power of One comes an inspiring human drama and war story of three lives brought together and changed forever by the extraordinary events of recent history. Inspired by real events, Bryce Courtenay's new novel tells the story of three people from vastly differing backgrounds. All they have in common is a tough beginning in life. Jack McKenzie is a harmonica player, soldier, dreamer, and small-time professional fisherman from a tiny island in Bass Strait. Nicole Lenoir-Jourdan is a strong-willed woman hiding from an ambiguous past in Shanghai. Larger than life, Private Jimmy Oldcorn was once a street kid and leader of a New York gang. Together, they reap a vast and not always legitimate fortune from the sea. Narrated by celebrated, award-winning actor Humphrey Bower.

Stunning

Having taught on King Is in the 60’s it seemed obvious that this was the model for 'Queen 'is. Knowing a little of the Korean War, China and Vietnam this really rang true - it was riveting!

The Depth of Cultural Content

This is a long book over four continents but with such varied lives of characters, it doesn’t seem so. It moves along at a good pace, I just couldn’t put it down. Now buying copies for friends.

great story, with Coutrney's usual brilliance for intertwining historical relevance into his fictional narrative.

it took quite a few chapters for me to get into this book, but I thoroughly enjoyed it, once I did.

Simply fantastic

I usually read science fiction but this book is simply amazing. It took me there and I was affected by the: compassion, terror, sadness, happiness and joy of celebration of life

A Truly Fantastic Book

As with the majority of Bryce Courtenay's books Brother Fish is an enthralling book which I found hard to put down when necessary to do so.
I just loved it!
