About this listen

Set in ancient Ireland, romance, tragedy, miracles and triumph intertwine in this poignant tale.

Keelan, on the brink of womanhood, is left adrift in the world when her home and family are destroyed by the Vikings. Morrigan, the healer woman who has served Keelan's family for a time has packed up and is planning to leave when she hears the screams. The solitary woman just wants to escape unseen when she is surprised to see the girl alive. Keelan, happy to see another living being, is unaware that Morrigan is trying to slip away alone. Morrigan tells the girl to go to her cousins' farm nearby and walks away. Morrigan's plans are interrupted, however, when she hears the Vikings grab young Keelan. Unable to leave the girl to the intruders, she turns around and allows herself to be captured and taken onboard the great longship with the girl. Thus begins the story of Keelan and the healer woman, both of whose lives are forever changed.
