Publisher's Summary

The multi-million copy number one bestseller
One of The Sunday Times's top 100 bestselling books of the past 50 years

Welcome to Bridget's first diary: mercilessly funny, endlessly touching and utterly addictive.

A dazzlingly urban satire on modern relationships?
An ironic, tragic insight into the demise of the nuclear family?
Or the confused ramblings of a pissed thirty-something?

As Bridget documents her struggles through the social minefield of her thirties and tries to weigh up the eternal question (Daniel Cleaver or Mark Darcy?), she turns for support to four indispensable friends: Shazzer, Jude, Tom and a bottle of chardonnay.

Helen Fielding's first Bridget Jones novel, Bridget Jones's Diary, sparked a phenomenon that has seen four books, newspaper columns and the smash-hit film series Bridget Jones's Diary, The Edge of Reason, Bridget Jones's Baby and Mad About the Boy.

Bridget Jones's Diary was featured in 'The 100 bestselling books of the past 50 years' published by The Sunday Times on 18/08/2024

Laugh out loud funny!

Hilarious! Narrator was amazing as Bridget. Laughed many times at ridiculous situations Bridget gets herself into and loved that it was so different from the movie.

A classic

Hilarious insight into the mind of a single 30-something searching for love. Hasn't lost relevance in the age of mobile phones.

Love, love, love! I can listen to this book over and over. A funny, witty romance with all the drama and honesty required to make it a stand out.

The perfect reader for a perfect book.

Although having read the novel many years ago and watched the movie, I still found this to be immensely enjoyable. The real world humanity of Bridget is something that we all have, but hide from everyone but our closest friends.

Easy, entertaining listen

I listened to this as part of a book club selection, and I wasn’t overly excited at the prospect, but very quickly I was engaged! I had enjoyed the film but hadn’t previously realised it was based on a book! I found it light listening, funny, relatable and generally very enjoyable. It’s an unique-feeling narration style and a modern retelling of an old, well loved piece of literature.

♡Wow, best narrator for Bridget Jones's Diary!♡

I could listen to Imogen Church narrating the Bridget Jones's Diary-series FOREVER. She does it perfectly, without fault it seems. She is so delightful as "Bridget", as well as Bridgets' friends, Sharon and Jude. Luckily she also narrates the second book, "The ÷edge of reason", which I simply couldn't wait to purchase. It's a genuine shame that Imogen Church did not narrate the last 2 books, "Mad about the boy" and "Bridget Jones' baby". I bought extra credits just to buy these books too, but it just isn't the same without Imogen as Bridget.
