Bridget Jones is mad about the boy – the laugh-out-loud No.1 bestseller, soon to be a major film starring Renée Zellweger.

What do you do when a girlfriend’s 60th birthday party is the same day as your boyfriend’s 30th?

Is it morally wrong to have a blow-dry when one of your children has head lice?

Is sleeping with someone after 2 dates and 6 weeks of texting the same as getting married after 2 meetings and 6 months of letter writing in Jane Austen’s day?

Pondering these, and other dilemmas, BRIDGET JONES stumbles through the challenges of single motherhood, online dating, and achieving ‘acceptance and calm’ in what SOME people rudely call ‘middle age’.

‘In an emergency, I turn to Bridget Jones’
DOLLY ALDERTON

‘Groundbreaking, iconic…a trailblazer’
CAITLIN MORAN

‘Sharp and humorous…genuinely moving’

Editorial reviews

Helen Fielding’s third Bridget Jones diary-novel, Mad About the Boy, follows Bridget Jones’s Diary and Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason, both made into hit films starring Renee Zellweger, Colin Firth and Hugh Grant. When we meet Bridget once more, she is widowed – left well-provided for by Mark Darcy’s will – and approaching middle age. Narrated by Samantha Bond, this audiobook explores single parenthood, tweeting, texting, sex and relationships the second time around with all the warmth, humour and occasional hilarious awkwardness listeners have come to expect from the modern Everywoman who is Bridget Jones. Fun and realistic romancing

A great follow up to the Darcy days. I picked the hero on the first encounter, of course.

Just For Laughs...

What did you like most about Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy?

When I just wanted a light read with nothing too heavy - I turned to this book and luckily it worked...

What did you like best about this story?

I loved the ending of this book. Usually books have a way of making you feel good but that you lost something. This book made me feel good and that I gained something. It was unusual for me, this ending, and yet it wasn't anything that weird or anything. I can't say why because it would ruin the read for you. Let's just say it ended nicely.

Which scene did you most enjoy?

I liked the scene in the bushes. Can't say more about that.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I would have liked to have listened to this book in one sitting but considering how long it was that was never going to be an option for me. I enjoyed the longer length of this novel and how it was so light-hearted. I didn't have to try too hard to understand it - it simply fell out and I munched it all up, with a few dribbles of chocolate on my nice white coat :)

Any additional comments?

If you're simply looking for a bit of a laugh and especially if you're hitting an older age and may be just a little bit single, I think you'll get a few laughs out of this book and maybe a few laughs about yourself in the process. Have fun with it! I did.

Touching and magical

I laughed and cried out loud, wonderful performance by Sam Bond and a realistic account of life's up's and downs.
